Glass Life Cycle Flow Chart

This is my life cycle. As you can see I go from being a raw material, to processing factories, to stores, to your home, recycled, and back through the process again.

Day 7- Glass Life Cycle

I am a beautiful shade of blue basking in the sun of someone's backyard! I had cooled off after the heating process a few days before and then immediately shipped to a store to be sold. I must say, I think I'm beautiful....I guess that's why I was bought so easily. The birds are chirping around me and occasionally they land on me, but realize quickly how hot my surface is.....
What is that noise?!? I think it's a dog and a cat but I can't really tell. They sound like they're getting closer!

OUCH! And here I am, scattered on the ground in a million pieces. I must have been knocked over by the dog while he was chasing the cat through the backyard. Oh! Here comes my owner, what a sad scene for me to witness their hearts shatter at the sight of me shattered. I guess it's back through the recycling process again. Hopefully next time I will find a better home....or purpose! Who knows!?

Day Three- Glass Life Cycle

I sat in the back of the truck for a day or two I guess. It was extremely uncomfortable and I felt crammed in there. I think I am being put in a furnace! Oh no! I guess I'll write back when I'm done.....
Jeez, 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit is way to hot for me! I am now molten glass and the factory workers are going to make me into a blown glass globe for someone's backyard! First I am put on this stick called a pipe, and I'm already in a bullet form. They roll me over a table called a marver so that I am smooth all around. Once they finished that, the man blew into the pipe at the opposite end of me, and created a bubble inside of me. Oh jeez! I think I'm getting sick! He keeps twirling me around and around! Now I'm back on the marver because the bubble started to go outside my bullet formation. I'm getting bigger and more round the more he twirls me. It has been nearly eight minutes already, and he has finally stopped twirling me! I am now being put into an Annealer where I will remain for a few days until I cool. I don't want any cracks so I'll write back when I'm all finished up!

Day One- Glass Life Cycle

It's a hot day, like any other day, here at the beach. I am relaxing, or trying to, while all these people around me, step on me, move me into a pile, and splash me with water. I am usually fine with the feeling of being prodded by millions of people daily, but today was different. I heard news that just a few blocks away, a pile of sand was taken by a bulldozer yesterday. I fear that I will be next........
It's nearly sunset now, and most of the beach bums have left. As I start to settle down and cool off from the hot sun, I hear men shouting and a loud noise of a machine coming towards me. Just like that I was ripped from my home and thrust into the back of a truck! Where am I going? What am I doing in here? Can someone get me out?!? I heard the roar of the truck's engine, and then we left. There would be no more hot summer days for me. I was off to be made into something new, I was sure of it.
